"Fans" do you really have them?

Hello everyone, Repson here. today were going to be talking about

Fans, what is a fan? (hint, not a metallic peice of equipment used for blowing cool air on you)

A fan is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something, such as a band, a sports team or entertainer.

Now, after you have seen that definition, im going to go over the "Fans" of 2 kinds of people that have fans

We'll start with Youtubers.

Look at SkydoesMinecraft, over 9million subs and counting.

but do you ever stop to think.

"How many of those subscribers are genuine? they could be ALT accounts of other users, inactive users. or people who just dont really watch him anymore"

The people who i mentioned, those are not fans

the people who are subscribed and watch his content regularly, those are fans.

Next, PMC'ers.

On PMC im sure you know you can subscribe to a page, many people think of those subscribers as "Fans"

but are they "DEVOTED" to you? Do they read everything you post? do they see all of your stuff? no. some people have reasons too. inactivity, lost interest. or just cant be bothered to Unsubscribe.

i dont really like talking about my own "fans". im glad i have over 140 people who like my blogs enough to subscribe, and have gotten 90% of my blogs on pop-reel.

but i still dont think of them as "Fans" unless they are totally devoted. and it just kindof irks me when someone sais "I HAVE 300 FANS" no. you dont. you have 300 people who clicked a blue button. not every single on of them see you stuff.

Sorry for the short blog, just wanted to get something out before i start my move to L.A

i may not post a blog in a week or two, im pursuing Youtube as a full career. and moving in with some other youtube personalities. so, until i return. goodbye

I got to agree with you, a lot of "fans" are just subscribers who look at your work. Unfortunatley, I have gotten self proclamed fans who are devoted to me and are 'genuine' so there's that.

Of course not, don't be absurd. I don't have fans. I have adherents.

I never hear people calling their subscribers fans, except for some big youtubers..

I used to (actually still do) have a youtube channel with 400+ subs. Yet when I posted new videos, they would barely get any views (or likes for that matter). I wasn't trying to make money off the videos (like I'm guessing you are) but it was a little disappointing that people who had bothered to hit the subscribe button weren't checking up on my channel anymore. At least I had some fun with it.

By the way, good blog (even if it was a little short). Here's a diamond.

Lol. I just subscribe to someone if I like their page, really. Sometimes I'll come by and check out what they've posted, lately. :P

Just how outdated is your bio? Last I checked, you need to be legally an adult before you can move away from your parents.

I usually only see a Fan as someone that comments, diamonds, favorites on everything(Or almost everything) I post. To me that is a sense of devotion. Not someone that just subscribes cause of one thing and doesn't keep up with what i do.

Also i think you should mention somewhere about people on PMC "Bragging" About their subscribers.

Nice blog, btw.

I think whether someone is a fan or not depends on what the person themself thinks, if that makes any sense.
Personally, it comes down to this: I think Sky's a nice guy, but while I've watched lots of his recent videos, I don't consider myself a fan.
CaptainSparklez, on the other hand, I don't watch too many of his videos but each one I do watch gives me a laugh - in that sort of case, I consider myself a fan.

As for PMCers, I don't know how many of my subscribers consider themselves my fans. That isn't really what matters to me though, what matters is that they decided to click the subscribe button. It says "Hey, I want to see more content from you!" and I appreciate that.

I'm more of follower than a fan. I wish I could give my all to one person, but the problem is that there are too many people that I like seeing content from, I'd be torn between some ten different people if I chose my favorites of favorites. However, just because I don't devote my all to a person, does that not mean I am not a fan? I love reading your blogs, they are a pleasure to see when you make a new one, I will still follow your though because you are good at what you do.

Best of luck with YouTube.

Try to connect with your followers a little more if you feel that they are not truly fans. Get to know them and make friends. After all it's not about popularity, it's about building a community and meeting great people such as yourself
