Hey everyone, welcome to the relaunch of the Survivalist Mod! We have now released the first build for version 1.7.2. We've started from scratch, and rethought everything. Overall we feel that we've made a much more polished, high quality mod. It's quite simple right now, but deep and complex enough that the main features should make for some interesting gameplay. We urge you to try it out! We plan to create a new Wiki soon, but for now you can find everything you need over at our Minecraft Forum Thread. You'll find it on a lovely yellow button at the side.

If you find a bug, please report it here. Thanks!

The Survivalist Mod is a fairly self explanatory one. It is a mod that aims to shift the focus of Minecraft's survival mode from simple resource collection and construction to in-depth survival in the vein of S.T.A.L.K.E.R and DayZ. You will need to find water, cook food and collect resources to craft medical supplies. All the while, keeping an eye on your body temperature and trying not to die. You will need to keep your wits about you to survive in harsh world of the Survivalist Mod.

As a side note, we will also be putting emphasis on aesthetic customisation in our mod.

You can find our Minecraft forum thread here and our website here.

Download and Installation

Please note that it is important that you use this method to install it, as there is one class file that requires a minor alteration.
Version v1.4-a Release Build

1. Download Survivalist Alpha 1.4 Release Build from here.

2. Download the most recent Forge Installer 1.7.2 from here.

3. Run the Forge Installer and install it to your client.

3. Locate your Minecraft installation, and open the "mods" folder.

4. Put the Survivalist Mod jar file in that folder. IF YOU DOWNLOADED THE SURVIVALIST MOD ZIP, YOU MUST EXTRACT THE JAR FIRST. PUTTING THE ZIP FOLDER IN THE MODS FOLDER WILL NOT WORK.

5. Run the Minecraft Launcher and launch the "Forge" profile.

Current Features
Health
 • Health regeneration disabled
 • Craftable medical supplies added (A healing cover can be crafted with one piece of paper and one rose red in any shape)
Thirst
 • You can get thirsty
 • Thirst is affected by body temperature
 • Drinking from potion bottles filled with water replenished thirst
 • Standing in a body of water and pressing "F" replenishes thirst
Body Temperature now alters using a system that takes into account all factors, before deciding how it affects your body temperature. These factors currently are:
 • The temperature of the biome the player is in.
 • Whether or not the player is wet (In a body of water, in the rain)
 • Whether or not the player is sprinting.
 • Whether or not the player is near a heat source (fire, lava, active furnace)
 • Drinking water also lowers body temperature, but only when player is warm.
HUD
 • Indicator in top left that informs player of what their body temperature is doing (warming up, cooling down, comfortable, etc...)
 • Chat messages that inform the player of any changes in their status.
Progress: 15% Complete

1.4.1-a Hotfix : 05/19/2014 8:53:52 pm5/19/14

We've just finished working on a hotfix for v1.4-a and have made it available for download. The hotfix fixes all known bugs in v1.4-a, making this our most stable build to date. We hope to continue in this manner!

The bugs fixed are:
 • Texture and name on healing cover now work correctly
 • Drinking from a bucket of milk now replenishes thirst
 • When you are freezing cold, you no longer lose all cold slowing effects
 • Drinking from a body of water now has a sound
 • The bizarre characters in chat messages created by the mod are now gone
 • The chat messages created by the mod are now colour coded
Don't forget to report any bugs you find here, it would really help us out. Enjoy!

1.4-a is now released : 05/19/2014 11:36:27 am5/19/14

Hey everyone! So 3 months ago, we'd actually more or less finished this build of the mod. The one thing we wanted to make sure we did was release it in a playable state. During testing, we ended up coming across a really huge crash that we had to get rid of before releasing it was something we would even consider.

Then we ended up having deadlines, exams, all sorts of things going on at University, and once again the mod slipped through the cracks. It's unfortunate, but unfortunately life takes priority. Anyway, we're done with that stuff now, and have managed to squash that crash. The mod is now playable, and available to download. We have a lovely bug report form available at our website, and all the information you need is on the Minecraft Forum thread. Go nuts!

1.4-a Release, Minecraft 1.7.2 and Streaming : 02/12/2014 1:47:02 pm2/12/14

Hello everyone, long time. This update just to say that we have completely remade the mod from scratch to be a lot more stable, a lot more functional and compatible with Minecraft 1.7.2. It is only bare bones functionality at the moment, but we are very close to having a release ready.

We will be streaming our first playtest of build 1.4-a tonight at 9pm GMT, we hope you can join us. Feel free to ask questions, we'll be talking about our plans going forward and what the current situation is. General chitchat is welcome too! We hope you can come by:

www.twitch.tv/snoogle13

Current Situation : 10/31/2013 10:03:00 pm10/31/13

I just wanted to quickly post here (to anyone still paying attention, not that I would expect you to) that this mod *isn't* actually dead. Just taking a break. The guy we had coding it had kind of slowly lost interest, until the whole thing just kind of stopped. I had been in charge of the project, but without my coder, I couldn't do much.

The situation right now is that I am going to take over development. I am doing a degree in games programming, and will start work very soon. I am going to practice by trying to update the mod to the more recent Minecraft updates, and then by working on some bugfixes. If all goes to plan, hopefully by Christmas I will be working on the next feature updates.

I don't expect anyone to hang around until then, but if you keep us followed, then I will make an announcement when there is something new to show you. That way, you can all be interested again when we actually give you something to be interested about!

Sorry everyone, there's nothing I would hate more than dropping this project. I really care about it. Thanks for reading.

Survivalist Mod v1.3 Inventory Tweaks and Minecraft 1.6.2 : 07/15/2013 8:25:28 am7/15/13

Hey everyone. This is just an update to discuss what's going on with the mod right now. I've written a blog post over on our website, so if you're interested to read about what's going on and what we're planning to do in the immediate future, go have a read here!

Thanks!

Version 1.6.2 - Error System Fixed : 07/11/2013 7:46:24 pm7/11/13

We've now updated the mod to Minecraft version 1.6.2. We have provided installation instructions that we hope are as simple and accurate as possible, and the mod should now be working in the current version of Minecraft. As I mentioned in the last update log, there's not much in the way of features included in this version, but they're on their way. This is just so that you don't have to choose between our mod and horses! We have a lot of crazy special stuff planned for the horses, so we're really glad they're in now. We hope you're excited too.

We've fixed the error system now, so if you are experienced at installing mods, you may use whichever method suits you best. If you get any errors come up once you join a world, simply check the error page on our Wiki for information on how to fix it. You can find a permanent link to that page on Mod Page here on PMC.

Don't forget, if you are using an older version of Minecraft for any reason, we have a backlog of every old version of our mod still available to download here. Enjoy 1.6.2 everyone!

Inventory Fixes and Error System : 07/08/2013 8:30:08 pm7/08/13

Thankyou so much for over 10,000 views here on Planet Minecraft, and all of the positive support. It really means a lot to us!

Please keep in mind that this is an Alpha, and is in very early development. We are just trying to produce an enjoyable experience for as many people as possible in our spare time, and will respond to any suggestions or requests. All we ask is that you are considerate of both the early stage we are at and the limited time we may have available. Thanks!

Version 1.2 has been released. We apologise that there are not many new features in this version, but they are currently incomplete. We don't want to release a bunch of incomplete stuff, so we will be releasing a stable version here. Any link to new stuff has been broken in this version as a result. This version addresses the issues people have been having with the inventory being blocked out and unblocks it again. To compensate, inventory weight has become more restrictive at the start. To clarify, your whole inventory will be visible, but how much you can store in it will be quite low.

We are happy to address any tweaks people believe should be made to the weights of items and different weight limits. I personally believe that the backpacks aren't quite effective enough. We are currently working on giving backpacks their own custom slots so that they can be worn with armour, but have been having a small bit of trouble with that, so just stick with us for a little bit. You can find the recipes on the wiki, and don't forget, the backpack art is temporary.

Finally, we have added an error system in this version. This is to address all of the people installing the mod in the mods folder and not copying the "ti.class" folder from the .zip into their "minecraft.jar", and hopefully any errors that come up in the future. Now if you have not installed the mod correctly, you will see a small message in your chat informing you such, and we will have a list of errors on the Wiki that you can refer to for a solution.

Edit: The error system is somewhat redundant at the moment, as for some reason if you install it any other way than the way you're supposed to it crashes. To avoid any issues, please make sure you follow the instructions we provide.

Thanks for your continued patience!

1000 downloads! : 06/17/2013 7:11:22 pm6/17/13

Just a quick update to say that we just hit 1000 downloads on Planet Minecraft! This is a huge deal for us, we've been around for about 4 months now, and we haven't got anywhere near as much attention as we have from this community in the last 20 days. We really want to thank everyone who downloaded the mod, and hope you're all enjoying it. Those of you playing the mod, if there's anything we can do to improve your experience, please let us know. Thanks everyone!

Backpack Redesign : 06/16/2013 11:26:13 am6/16/13

So, for those of you currently using the Survivalist Mod, I thought you'd be interested to learn about the changes we're think about making to the backpack system. Firstly, we've decided to stop blocking out the inventory. It causes far too many problems. We're going to be limiting weight more in the beginning, but allowing the player all of their slots. We'll add a few small backpacks that add varying amounts to your weight, right up to one that adds quite a lot to your weight.

There will also perhaps be higher tier backpacks that add weight, and extra slots to your inventory. Lastly, we will be adding custom slots for your backpacks, so they won't be worn in your armour slots any more.

New Patch : 06/09/2013 8:45:40 am6/09/13

The new patch is a result of the many bugs present in the current pre-release. We're still working on the full patch, and there are a few issues present as well as a few features and tweaks left to do. However, what we have done is added three backpacks that you can craft and fixed a bunch of the more serious bugs. This will drastically improve the gameplay of the mod, and we hope this holds you over until we're done.

I will be posting the recipes for the backpacks on the Wiki later today. The recipes are only temporary currently, as we will be adding a fabric item that is required to craft them a bit later. The current recipes are a bit strange.

The new patch is now available for download, so go get it!

New Links, Screenshots and Progress : 06/06/2013 4:15:13 pm6/06/13

Hey everyone, we've added the Minecraft Forum thread and a link to our Rapidshare to the top of the main post, as well as putting up a more up to date screenshot. We have been hard at working playing the mod and making a list of all of the bugs to fix, in an attempt to squash them all ready for the release of the next version. Fortunately, the gameplay seems completely bug free, with the few bugs we've found being fairly minor. We will be making a few tweaks to the inventory system before release, but other than that, things are shaping up nicely. We look forward to showing you!

Playtesting and Bugfixing : 06/02/2013 7:12:13 pm6/02/13

As I mentioned earlier, we had hope to upload a video of us playtesting the mod today. Due to framerate issues experienced because of computers messing up, we weren't able to play properly, but we did find a whole bunch of bugs that we fixed. But we ran out of time and weren't able to film a whole video. We'll try again, possibly tomorrow, but in the meantime, here's one of the funnier bugs we found. I apologise in advance for my loud laughter.

http://youtu.be/oh9AAJVRaBc

Release Progress : 06/02/2013 8:08:41 am6/02/13

After a lot of hard work yesterday, a lot of progress has been made. Bugs have been fixed left, right and centre and we have got 3 different types of backpacks in. The whole system is performing beautifully. They're craftable, they allow you to carry more.

We will be playtesting it today, and uploading a video of our adventures on Youtube later. Be sure to subscribe to our Youtube channel to see the video as soon as it's uploaded! The goal of today is to give players an insight in to the new release as played by us, as well as eliminate as many bugs as possible before release. If all goes well, you will see the full release very soon!

Thanks for reading.

Inventory Weight and Backpacks : 05/30/2013 12:48:46 pm5/30/13

Hey everyone, I thought I'd just write an update describing in more detail exactly what we're working on. Those of you who have downloaded the current release will know that it includes a far from complete inventory weight system. This means you can only carry so much before you become very sluggish. Since we released this download, we have added in a crafting recipe for the backpack and restricted the players inventory to their hotbar when not wearing a backpack. This essentially represents what the player can carry on their person, without the help of a bag.

There is much to do before we release this build. Many things need working out and fixing. We want to add in a few more sizes of backpacks and the ability to combine your backpack with your armour, to begin with. These backpacks will have two purposes - they will increase your maximum weight limit and unlock new lines in your inventory. It will therefore be possible to unlock your full inventory again. We also have plans for specialist backpacks such as the miners backpack - a large sized backpack that makes all ores and stone weigh half the amount. This should give you an idea of the kind of progression our system should allow.

Please note that current item weights are not final, and we will be tweaking them before we fully release Alpha v1.0, and in the future we will add a system allowing players to manually configure the weights of items from other mods they may have installed. We may also overhaul the GUI of our mod and make a few tweaks and changes very soon.

We will have more news for you soon, thanks for reading!

sounds great, but you should add an encumberance level, by adding weight values to all items, and only having a capacity of 200 pounds at spawn, but you can become stronger through gameplay.

Do weight and energy. You might already have it because I haven't downloaded it yet though. xD You should also make animals run away from you, the cows, sheep, etc.

I suppose the short answer is that you don't, really. A desert is very hot, the best way to survive is to try to avoid extreme temperatures. They're dangerous! But you can slow down the effects by drinking water while you're there.

We are planning to add clothing and things though, to make survival easier. For now, my response would be to be careful about where you go.

@Themissinglink I grabbed a Bucket and just place it whenever I get too hot for a while and drink alot, My seed is an Ice plains one, to counter the cold I found a lava stream, so I just stand next to that until the cold effects go, then go get what I need and return.

I have a lot of suggestions for what i expect in a mod like this, the list goes...

WATER: I expect water to be clean,
dirty, salty, etc. along with that, I think that there should be other
craft-able or cook-able drinks that can be made to quench your thirst
and to further enjoy the game.. Water to me should diminish based on
difficulty and config settings, allowing you to turn on/off hydration
meters. (there's a lot more I want to suggest on this subject but I'll
wait for this to become more updated)

HUNGER: I expect food to be a big
factor in this mod!! Meaning, that i think a rotting over time and
nourishment should be in place. Hunger again should be based on
difficulty and also maybe adding in food nausea like if you eat to much
you get nauseous or your walking speed slows. I think as well more
animals should be included and different drops for each animal. (there's
a lot more I want to suggest on this subject but I'll wait for this to
become more updated)

GUI: In this portion i would like
there to be a more user friendly GUI for thirst meters and temp. I think
thirst meters should be next to hunger down by your bar, and I'd like
to say your temp. meter is in a perfect place I would just like to
suggest adding in a bar as well. (there's a lot more I want to suggest
on this subject but I'll wait for this to become more updated)

BLOCKS/ITEMS: For items I think that
new weapons should be added in. Also, I think that more survival gear
would be a necessity for this type of mod, as in: fire starter (removing
flint and steel), backpack, multi-tool (with key scrolling for
switching through the tools), Tent (big enough to sleep in), Campfire
(with burnout in rain), etc. (there's a lot more I want to suggest on
this subject but I'll wait for this to become more updated)

TEMPERATURE: I would like there to be
better biome spread with lots of factors, as in: Height/dept, downfall,
what your standing on, biome (better acclimate), clothing, etc. With
this i would like to possibly see seasons come into play for this mod,
so a player can get the full effect of the biome he chose. (there's a
lot more I want to suggest on this subject but I'll wait for this to
become more updated)

PHYSICS: I think that this mod should
add physics into the game like: falling trees, stability (based on
block type), random cave-ins, and maybe weather affecting world.
(there's a lot more I want to suggest on this subject but I'll wait for
this to become more updated)

OTHERS: I think there should be more
difficulty to the game with this mod, as in: time it takes to break
blocks, movement impairments (like waking on snow or sand or in water),
Bag space (over encumbered from to much stuff), more clothing (like wool
armor or something to that extent), better farming(so you don't have to
break grass to get seeds.), etc. (there's a lot more I want to suggest
on this subject but I'll wait for this to become more updated)

and much much more!! Thx for making the mod and keep up the great work,
if possible though can you add a more recent "upcoming log".. THX as
always Beastplayer102

Hello! (I just made this account to say this) But I was scrolling through when I found this! It reminds me of an old discontinued mod that I loved x3. You probably are not, but I am inquired to ask, do you have/plan a version compatible with 1.6.4? My  goal in minecraft is to have my own personal pack that is realistic, and all of my mods are of the earlier stated version. If you are, tanks in advance! If not, well you suck ( I'M KIDDING I'M KIDDDINNG) But really thanks for your time of reading this ^^

Yeah, I'd give it a test. We can only really guess, but I *think* it probably should. Give it a go with no other mods installed and just play it for a little bit, see if anything appears to go wrong. If it works, you have our permission, as long as you give us full credit for our work.

I have already downloaded and played and told all my friends about it !  And I have a question and 2 comments. The question is where is the HUD for the thirst ? or is it just the messeges like "I am getting thirsty" 1st I feel the tempurature system is a little to damanding at the moment. I absolutely love the idea of body temp and love the extra challenge from it, but, it felt as though i was contantly worring about my body temp. Maybe if the time it took to heat up or chill down was increased or if the player could cool down quickly by going for a quick swim or warm up from making a coat/jacket or even a pancho out of leather or hide. I may actually have been experiencing this wild tempurature change because I am also running the Mo' Biomes mod and was in a bamboo forrest. :P So i guess thats kind of a question as well Is it compatible with biome mods like Mo' Biomes? 2nd comment I absolutely LOVE this mod so far, already one of my favorites! BRAVO MOD CREATORS!

Thanks, we are currently unsure about the effects of mods that add biomes. the body temp system is currently under evaluation and may change depending on feedback.

all the hud has been stripped back you can check how hot or cold or thirsty you are by potion effects on your inventory screen. if you dont have any potion effects you have nothing to worry about

Fair question. Basically, the mod isn't really released. We've scrapped all the past builds, and are planning to release it fresh for 1.7.2. We made the change a little while ago about a day before we planned to release, and then a really game breaking bug popped up and we've been having trouble figuring it out.

Okay, I have a few suggestions. Now, please take these seriously, I think they would be great additions:

 1. You should be able to drink straight from water blocks, except water in ocean and beach biomes should dehydrate you, water in river biomes has a chance of poisoning you, and water in swamp biomes is safe to drink (Suprisingly accurate, they are big natural filterers of water because of the plants)
 2. You should have an easier way to make fire (rubbing sticks with a high chance of failure or something).
 3. Your body tempature should rise near a fire.
 4. Furnaces should be harder to craft, making fires the most efficent way to cook things (in the beginning).
 5. No punching trees! You should have to break leaves to get sticks which can be used to craft a hachet with some rocks (mabye in dirt?)
 6. There should be ice packs, like the heat packs.

And that's all I have for now. It looks great.

Yeah, we streamed a live playtest about 15 hours ago and found a pretty major bug. It needs to be fixed before we can release. Very soon though!

THIS MOD LOOKS AMAZING!!!! I've played with it a little bit in 1.5 and it was really fun. I also had the camping mod with it, and i gotta say you guys should try to work something out with the creators of the camping mod you would truly have a masterpiece, although this mod by its self would be enough to make me happy for a very long time. KEEP IT UP!!1.7!!!!!

We're glad you like it. We're currently working on rebooting it, we've rebuilt it from scratch for 1.7. We're hoping to get it out this week.

3 months ago. Whoops. Sorry about that!

Forge has only recently been made available for 1.7+, so that's what we're doing now. It's on its way, the mod is now officially back in full development.

Be patient. It is really difficult creating mods, and sometimes the mod makers have to go to college, or have a job to go to.

I installed the mod per the instructions. I got error 1 when I started the game. these are the bugs I have at present:
Chests become invisible and give off pink and black broken textures when breaking.
Meat glitches in hand and keeps disappearing, eating is buggy and gives poison (think poison is intended)
When I wear any kind of backpack my skin goes pink and black with a broken texture (i used default resource pack for this by the way)
Drinking animation is also glitchy
My health still regenerates on all difficulties

Please help!

Try re-installing the mod, if that doesnt work, just see if you installed the mod correctly. Or, just wait for next update to mod.

So this mod is looking really sweet. I had a couple suggestions of things you may wanna add just to make surviving a little bit more of a challenge. To start, i think that the player should have to purify their water before drinking it, whether it is from boiling it or by some other method. Also, a player should slowly lose body temperature in winter biomes unless they are wearing fur clothing made from wolf pelts to keep them warm, however if they wear these fur clothes in other biomes their body temperature should rise. Also campfires should be added in. And that should provide heat for you in winter biomes or at night, and should also give a chance to cook. Also body temperature should drop faster at night time in winter biomes than other biomes. Food should have a chance of burning. And when cooking on campfires the chance of burning food should be much higher. Campfires can only be fueled by sticks and firewood which can be crafted by placing a log into a crafting table. Ill list it out for you to make it simple :)
-Add Water Purification
-Add Wolf Pelts, And Fur Clothing
-Add Campfires
-Add Burnt Food
You don't have to add any of these, i just thought these would make the mod slightly more interesting. I mean you're the programmer, and its your mod. You decide what you want to do with it, i just thought it would be cool to have some of these things in it. Thanks for reading!:)
